The fourth edition of Asli Sharqi (“original oriental”) will take place on the 28/29/30 September 2012 at ‘De Regentes’ Theatre in The Hague.
The weekend will be full of performances, workshops, readings, an open stage, fashion, debate, films, shopping and a party. This international festival embraces both the traditional and experimental. Asli Sharqi encourages artistic encounters, exchanges, challenges and above all, provides a source of boundless inspiration for original oriental belly dance.

SEPTEMBER 23 - 2011
Opening with the Dutch premiere of the film 'At night, they dance', by Isabelle Lavigne & Stéphanie Thibault, about the life of dancers in Cairo. The film will be introduced by Karin van Nieuwkerk and will be followed by a debate, focussing on the influence of the religious climate on dance in the Middle East (i.c.w. NWO project Islam and Performing arts by Karin van Nieuwkerk).
